In ear candling therapy, special candles are placed in the patient's outer ear canal and then lit to remove earwax and dust particles from the ear canal. During the so-called chimney phase, excess pressure builds up in the ear, opening clogged pores, improving skin respiration and transporting waste and secretions inside the candle. The pressure conditions in the head are also regulated, which should lead to better coordination of the two halves of the brain.
Threading is a method of hair removal for both men and women originating in India and Central Asia, with a cosmetic application (particularly for removing/shaping eyebrows). In threading, a thin cotton or polyester thread is doubled, then twisted. It is then rolled over areas of unwanted hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove short rows of hair. Threading allows for a more defined and precise shape and can create better definition for eyebrows. It is also used as a method of removing unwanted hair on the entire face and upper lip area. Threading is not a good method for removing hair on arms or legs, as the hair in those regions is typically quite coarse and there is too much to remove
Infrared sauna therapy differs from the ancient practice of using fire beneath a makeshift lodge to generate heat, instead utilizing infrared light waves to generate heat in the body. These waves penetrate deeper into the tissues without excessively raising the temperature of the sauna room, making this therapy ideal for people who can’t tolerate the heat and humidity of traditional sauna rooms and so might miss out on the potential benefits. The infrared waves themselves are invisible, falling within the electromagnetic radiation spectrum. Also referred to as “far-infrared” waves (FIR), they have the ability to positively alter the body’s tissues by penetrating below the surface of the skin, generating mitochondrial activity and effectively circulating heat.
